Note from the Author
Hope and the Farm Festival was my way of saying thank you to some very special people who encouraged me when I first started writing and illustrating my books.
At the time, I was sharing my artwork on TikTok and had met some wonderfully supportive people. I decided to give a few of them a little place in Hope’s next adventure by naming the characters after them and their animals.
Sunny, the horse at the heart of the story, was named in memory of a much-loved horse who had sadly passed away. His owner also had two rescue ponies called Honey and Treacle. I was warned that Treacle was rather naughty, so naturally I couldn’t resist letting Treacle get up to all sorts of mischief!
And Fran the farmer was named after a lovely friend in Canada who became the first person overseas to buy one of my books.
I loved weaving these real connections into a fictional adventure. Beneath all the fun and mischief, there’s a gentle message about kindness, teamwork and taking responsibility.
But most importantly, I hope children simply enjoy the adventure, laugh at Treacle’s antics and have fun making the illustrations their own with colour.
