A Note from the Artist:

There’s a little lighthouse in Spain that makes me happy.  Something about it has always stayed with me and it inspired this piece of artwork.

I’ve often thought about how we behave when life becomes difficult. Sometimes, when things feel overwhelming, we withdraw into ourselves.  We shut the world out and without really realising it, turn off our own light.

But perhaps that’s exactly when we need to let it shine.

A lighthouse doesn’t wait for the storm to pass before switching on its light.  It shines because there’s a storm.

I wanted this picture to be a reminder that we don’t have to hide away when life gets rough.  Sometimes, simply allowing ourselves to be seen, reaching out and letting a little light back in can help us find our way forward.

Perhaps, without even knowing it, our light might help someone else find their way too.
