A Note from the Artist:

I’ve always found primates fascinating. There is something about their faces and expressions that makes them feel so familiar.

A chimpanzee can look thoughtful, mischievous, curious or even a little suspicious and sometimes it’s almost impossible not to imagine what might be going through its mind.

One of the things I enjoy most about drawing wildlife is trying to capture that individuality. I don’t want to create just a picture of an animal. I want people to feel that they are looking at a particular character.

Chimpanzees are extraordinary creatures. They form close family bonds, communicate with one another and even use tools to solve problems.

Yet despite their remarkable intelligence and adaptability, they face serious threats from habitat loss, hunting and disease.

My endangered animals collection is about celebrating the creatures with which we share this beautiful planet and encouraging people to appreciate just how precious they are.

I hope this chimpanzee brings a little character into your day and perhaps makes you stop for a moment to think about the wonderful world beyond our own.
