A note from the Author

Hope and the Mysterious Mist will always have a special place in my heart.  Although it was my second published book, it was the first time I felt I had truly found my feet as both an author and an illustrator.

I’d finally stopped worrying that my drawings didn’t look like photographs and started embracing my own loose, slightly quirky style.  It was wonderfully liberating!

I originally planned to finish the story when Hope found the rainbow crystal but I was so excited for her that I couldn’t possibly leave it there.  She had to race home, telling all the animals she’d met along the way that she’d done it!

When Hope finally reached Grandma’s house and they hung the crystal in the tree, bringing colour and happiness back to the village, I felt I’d achieved something rather special too.

This was the book that gave me the confidence to keep writing and drawing.
