A note from the Author

Hope and the Zoo Zoomies came about for one very simple reason.  I wanted to draw zoo animals!

I’d wanted to illustrate all sorts of wonderful creatures ever since I started making books, so sending Hope off on an adventure to the zoo seemed the perfect excuse.

And what an adventure it became!  I had enormous fun dreaming up the mischief the animals could get into, particularly the penguins sliding down the elephant’s trunk on the cover. That picture still makes me giggle whenever I look at it.

As with all my Hidden Learning Adventures, there’s a little more going on beneath the fun.  Hope encounters problems to solve, animals to help and plenty of opportunities to discover something new.

There’s even a world map showing where the different animals come from.

This book took a while to reach the finish line because I kept wandering off to write other books along the way!

But I thoroughly enjoyed returning to Hope’s world and filling it with wonderful animals, laughter and a little hidden learning.

And now I’m dreaming of a seaside adventure.  Mainly because I fancy drawing crabs!
