A note from the Author

There’s something rather magical about Christmas, especially when you’re seeing it through the eyes of a little dog experiencing it for the very first time.

Hope’s First Christmas was such a lovely book to create.  I wanted to capture all those little moments that make Christmas special, from the decorations and excitement to the warmth of being together.

I decided to tell Hope’s adventure in rhyme, which was great fun to write.  Finding just the right words to make the story flow was sometimes a challenge but I loved the playful rhythm it gave the book.

And, of course, I had enormous fun with the illustrations!  Christmas offers so many wonderful things to draw, from sparkling decorations and beautifully wrapped presents to all the little festive details that bring a picture to life.

I’ve included plenty of colouring pages too, so children and grown-ups can add their own splash of Christmas magic to Hope’s world.

Above all, I wanted this book to be something families could enjoy together.  A little story to share, pictures to colour and perhaps a few smiles along the way.

Because Christmas isn’t really about the presents under the tree.  It’s about the love, laughter and memories we make together.

And having a little Hope in our lives makes it even more special.
