Crabby. Original artwork by Julia Griffith.
This one started with a very particular seaside memory.
For my 50th birthday, I was by the sea with a pint of prawns, crab claws and all the wonderful, slightly messy food that goes with a proper seaside treat. It was one of those simple moments that somehow fixes itself in your memory.
Around the same time, I was also right in the middle of menopause, which may explain why the idea of being a little bit crabby felt especially appropriate.
So this design became a mixture of seaside humour, memory and that slightly exasperated feeling most of us recognise from time to time. Sometimes you are calm and collected. Sometimes you are absolutely not.
And on those days, perhaps it is best just to own it.
A Note from the Artist:
Crabby makes me smile because it reminds me of my 50th birthday, the seaside, a pint of prawns, crab claws and a stage of life when my patience was not always at its most generous. If you know, you know.
It seemed only fair to turn that into artwork.
